What is a Scholarship?

This program is intended for those who wish to study at a university or vocational school but have difficulty meeting all of their tuition and living expenses.

How to apply

Basically, you can apply in Japan after your arrival in Japan. For some items, it is possible to apply before the arrival date.
Applications are made through Japanese schools.

Scholarships by Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO)

The Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) offers two types of scholarships: the "MEXT Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students" and the "Study Abroad Support Program (Agreement-based)."

  1. A GPA of 2.30 or higher during the scholarship period.
  2. Japanese Language Proficiency Test level N2 or higher, or CEFR English proficiency level B2 or higher.
  3. A monthly allowance (excluding admission and tuition fees) averaging 90,000 JPY or less, etc.

The program provides support to implement initiatives where specialized training colleges and other institutions accept enrolled students from foreign higher education institutions for a specified period based on a student exchange agreement.
